Picture Book Preview

We are dedicated to bringing the best and brightest books to our library collections. Here are some picture books we are really excited about that are recently arrived or will be hitting shelves soon.

How Do You Dance
 How Do You Dance? by Thyra Heder,  author/illustrator.

A wide range of young dancers show off unique and expressive dance moves that would give the Peanuts gang a run for their money. Standing among them is a bewildered wallflower whose mysterious refusal to join in the fun isn't explained until the final page spread.

Sometimes you may find yourself bored, but just what does that mean? What would a room full of 300 bored people look like? Are there experiences that are neither fun nor boring? It turns out that there is a lot to explore about this fascinating topic!

The Blue Pebble

Oli finds a strange blue pebble and decides to hang onto it even though it is utterly useless in the eyes of just about everyone he meets. He can't eat it, defend himself with it, or play with it, but has a feeling it will nevertheless fulfill a meaningful destiny.

 

Afternoon on a hill

 Afternoon on a Hill, by Edna St Vincent Millay, author, and  Paolo Domenicani,  illustrator.

A short 3 stanza poem by Edna St. Vincent Millay is visually reinterpreted in a series of magnificent surrealist double page spreads. This is a super fast read at a mere 14 pages

This exciting bright and vibrant introduction to school walks new pupils-to-be through a typical day including show and tell, naptimes and art.

A new Kindergarten student does not want to be there and would rather stay in preschool which is conveniently one door down the hall.
