Spread the word and bring your friends to this engaging Freedom to Read Week Program!

Wednesday, February 23, 7-8:30pm at the Lillian H. Smith Branch
There are the changes you know about, when Japanese manga (comics and graphic novels) make their way across the Pacific to North America — translation, localization — and the changes you don't. Beguiling Bookstore manager Christopher Butcher talks about the many surprising and unfortunate ways manga are censored in North America, as artistic integrity is sacrificed out of fear and a desire to maximize profit–and what you can do about it! The presentation includes ideas and images intended for a mature audience.
