Dexter
"Harry was a great cop here in Miami. He taught me how to think like one;
he taught me how to cover my tracks. I'm a very neat monster."
Dexter Morgan on his father Harry
Over the summer I've been getting my TV fix with shows like Entourage and True Blood. These shows did a pretty good job of tying me over until my true love starts in October, Dexter. For those not familiar with Dexter; it's a about a blood splatter expert who works for the Miami Police Department, who also happens to be a serial killer. It's probably the only show/story where you root for the serial killer, but that's only because he's a good serial killer (if there is such a thing). He follows a code that only allows him to kill other killers. It's based on a series of books written by Jeff Lindsay. So far he's written 5 books; Darkly Dreaming Dexter (2004), Dearly Devoted Dexter (2005), Dexter in the Dark (2007), Dexter by Design (2009), Dexter is Delicious (2010). His sixth instalment is due to be released on October 18th, 2011, titled Double Dexter. Toronto Public Library has ordered a ton of copies and Lillian Smith is set to get one of them. The first season loosely follows the first book, however the other seasons were written independent of the books and adapted for television. Still worth watching and/or reading. For those interested in the TV show we also have it on DVD which can be found here
