Jewish genealogy has moved into a new millennium with a revolutionary strategy for advancing genealogy research — DNA matching. Join Bennett Greenspan, founder of Family Tree DNA, as he explores how Genealogical DNA testing can'trace your ancestors.
Here is what you can hope to learn:
- if two people are related
- your suggested geographic origins
- the branch of the “tree” of humankind you descend from
- if you could be of Jewish ancestry
- if you could be of Cohanim descent
- your deep ancestral ethnic origins
The Canadiana Department holds a reference collection of Canadian genealogy, Ontario local history, North York history, and materials related to Canada. The Department also houses collections from these genealogical societies:
- Ontario Genealogical Society
- Jewish Genealogical Society (Toronto Branch)
- Canadian Society of Mayflower Descendants
- York Pioneer and Historical Society
- Société franco-ontarienne d'histoire et de généalogie
