Jewish genealogy has moved into a new millennium with a revolutionary strategy for advancing genealogy research — DNA matching. Join Bennett Greenspan, founder of Family Tree DNA, as he explores how Genealogical DNA testing can'trace your ancestors.

Here is what you can hope to learn:

  • if two people are related
  • your suggested geographic origins
  • the branch of the “tree” of humankind you descend from
  • if you could be of Jewish ancestry
  • if you could be of Cohanim descent
  • your deep ancestral ethnic origins

The Canadiana Department holds a reference collection of Canadian genealogy, Ontario local history, North York history, and materials related to Canada. The Department also houses collections from these genealogical societies:

  • Ontario Genealogical Society
  • Jewish Genealogical Society (Toronto Branch)
  • Canadian Society of Mayflower Descendants
  • York Pioneer and Historical Society
  • Société franco-ontarienne d'histoire et de généalogie
