Census 2011 – Say “Yes” for future researchers
Whether you complete your 2011 census online, or ask for a paper version, there is one very important answer that future generations need from us. Check "Yes" when asked if you will allow your information to be released to the public in 92 years! After 92 years, your own family descendants, especially the genealogists among them will be very, very grateful. And really, how concerned are you going to be in 92 years about your census answers?
The Ontario Genealogical Society even suggests making a copy of your census form before submitting it, and keeping it for your family to have in the future. More easily done with the print version, than the online version I gather.
For the sake of future genealogists and genealogy librarians, tell your family and friends to say "Yes".
The Genealogy Corner on the 2011 Census website gives more information on this matter, as well as articles on Canadian census history and a personal perspective on using the 1911 census.
