Where to find books in many languages?
The Toronto Public Library has collections for adults and children in many different languages – books, magazines, music CDs, videos, DVDs!
From the Guide to multilingual collections click on the language that interests you to see at which branch and which part of Toronto you can find materials in it.
Even if your local library doesn't have books, DVDs, CDs etc. in your native language, you are welcome to visit any branch in Toronto and borrow materials from there. You don't have to return them to the same location! Just drop them off at the closest library.
To find the Guide to multilingual collection from the library homepage – click on "Multicultural resources" and from the new page - select "Books, Videos & More".
You can also browse by library branch to see what multilingual collections can be found there. For a list of all branches go to the library webpage and click on "Hours and Locations". Then you can choose the name of the library from the "Branches A-Z" list. For each library there is a "profile" which will describe the multilingual collections in that location.
In addition to your local branch – the Toronto Reference Library has a great Languages Centre on the 5th floor where you can find books in more than 100 languages and most of them can be borrowed too!
