You don’t have to spend a fortune to go to the Opera
Do you like the opera? Maybe you've never been. Opera is full of deep emotions, colour and, of course, music. Toronto is lucky to have the Canadian Opera Company here in town. Canadian opera singers are some of the best in the world! We can look forward to performances of the great classic operas and challenging contemporary and modern ones, too. If you have never gone to an opera, now is your time to try it out, because there is new and cheaper way to attend.
The beautiful new opera house, The Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, now has standing room tickets available. At the back of levels 3 and 4 there are spaces for standing with railings to lean on and each space has a hook to hang your coat. Standing while watching an opera is quite common in European opera houses. There are about 60 of these tickets available for each performance and you can get them for $12.00. They are available at the Box Office the day of a performance, starting at 11:00 a.m. The Box Office is on the corner of Queen St West and University Avenue, right above the Osgoode subway stop.
Try it — maybe you'll like it!
