Portugal Day in Toronto
The Portuguese community annually recognizes June 10th as Portugal's National Day, commemorating the anniversary of Portuguese poet Luis de Camoes's death. It is a time of celebration for the Portuguese community and this year much of the festivities took place at Trinity Bellwoods Park, right in the heart of Little Portugal.
Trinity Bellwoods Park came alive with Portuguese newcomers and citizens as they celebrated Portugal Day this past weekend with live music, rides, games, folklore dancing, and a parade.

The history of Portuguese Canadians date as far back as the 16th century. Portuguese newcomers and the Portuguese-Canadian community have played a significant role in contributing their value to Canadian society and culture.
