Toronto Public Library Resources for Youth
Whether it’s your first year of high school in Canada or your last year of high school, the Toronto Public Library has lots of resources to help!
Borrowing materials
From English ISU books to math guides to the latest popular fiction, you’ll find plenty of books (and DVDs!) in your local library. We have 100 library branches across Toronto! All you need to borrow books, movies, and access all of our online resources, is a library card.
Attend a program!
We have amazing youth programs all across the city! These are great opportunities to meet new friends and have new experiences. Click here to see all of the youth programs available and to find one that sparks your interest!
There are also many youth hubs that offer drop-in space, programs, and activities for youth aged 13-19. Youth hubs provide youth with a safe space, technology loans, homework help, and healthy snacks! Click here to find out where the nearest youth hub to you is.
Homework help
The Toronto Public Library offers many different online resources for homework help! Click here for a full list.
One of these great resources is Brainfuse, which is an online service that offers online homework help for students in grades K-12 daily from 2:00pm to 11:00pm. All you need is your library card!
Volunteer hours
Every high school student in Ontario must complete 40 volunteer hours as a graduation requirement. Volunteering is also a wonderful way to meet new people and build a network of connections. There are a number of different opportunities for you to volunteer for the Toronto Public Library.
One of these opportunities is Youth Advisory Groups (YAG) at your local library! When you become a YAG member, you attend regular meetings to discuss the creation, development and promotion of library programs, collections, publications, and spaces for you and your fellow teens.
There are also many volunteer opportunities beyond Toronto Public Library that you can explore!
Library Settlement Partnerships (LSP)
As part of our Library Settlement Partnerships, many libraries have a Library Settlement Worker that can help you and your family get started in Toronto and Canada! Whether you’re hoping to look for a job, get help preparing for the citizenship test, or to find English classes, our Settlement Workers are happy to help! Our recent blog post highlights all of the other settlement services that are available for you!
