Winter Woes
Are your skin and lips dry? Cracking? Peeling?
Does your hair suddenly have a lot of static and stick to your face, coat and
anything and everything?
The culprit? The dry air and harsh
winds of winter. The dry air sucks out
the moisture from our skin causing it to crack. Our lips are often exposed and
only contain thin layers of skin, making it an easy target. Also, the dry air causes our
body to build up static charge which explains why our hair is often standing up and clinging to everything.
So, what can we do to avoid all of this?
- Moisturize. It will
help lock in moisture in your skin and lips.
- Protect your hands with gloves
from the dry air and harsh winds.
- Avoid taking long, hot
showers/baths as it will dry out your skin and wash away essential oils from
your skin and hair.
- Use hydrating shampoos and
conditioners for your hair. And give your hair a deep conditioning treatment once a week.
- Lightly rubbing a dryer sheet over your hair will remove
some static. But don’t overdo it or it will
make your hair greasy.
