Free Science Events in Toronto for March 2014
The Science and Technology Department of North York Central Library compiles a monthly calendar of free science and applied science events in Toronto. Applied science includes health, gardening, pets and food; all subjects found in the department's collection. Here is the March Calendar.
March's highlights include:
- March 6: The Harvard Computers: Women who catalogued the stars and helped us understand the Universe, part of the University of Toronto Free Astronomy Public Tours. The speaker will discuss the important contributions of these women whose work helped shape our modern understanding of the Universe, and the social prejudice of the time, which permitted these women to be computers, but not astronomers.
- March 9: When Art Meets Science: Broadening Horizons through Interdisciplinary Practice: A Discussion, part of the Royal Canadian Institute for the Advancement of Science. The panel brings together scientists, artists and those with a foot in each of the 'two cultures' to discuss their interdisciplinary practices, and encourage novel ways to understand the world around us.
- March 25: Insights into the Natural History of Polar Bears and the Significance of Climate Warming, part of the Distinguished Lecturer Series, University of Toronto, The Centre for Global Change Science.
The Toronto Public Library also offers many free science and applied science events:
March's highlights include:
- March 3: Photoshop I, at Toronto Reference Library.
