Free Science Events in Toronto for July 2016
The Business, Science and Technology Department of North York Central Library compiles a monthly calendar of free science and applied science events in Toronto. Applied science includes health, gardening, pets and food; all subjects found in the department's collection. Here is the July calendar (PDF).
July's highlights include:
- July 7: Healthy Digestion – Learn more about the best digestive foods and exercises to increase metabolism and digestion.
- July 12: Stem Cells: The Hope and the Hype – Join leading experts for a realistic view of what stems cells hold for all of us – now and in the future.
- July 24: Water World – Discover how water works and how to keep our water clean.

At the Library, July's highlights include:
- July 9 & 10: Maker Festival, at the Toronto Reference Library. A two-day festival with over 100 makers, creators, inventors and tinkerers and an exciting line-up of speakers, workshops, tech demos and more.
- July 13: Musicking, Science and Health: An Educational Tune-Up, at Main Street branch. Guest lecturer Keith Loach will examine three areas of study in music and health: mental, physical, and cognitive.
- July 15: Finding Health Information Online, at York Woods branch. Learn how to find health information online and how to evaluate these websites on their accuracy and respectability.
- July 18: Planting Herbs for Beginners, at Barbara Frum branch. Learn how to make your very own indoor herb garden.
- July 28: Open Data Book Club, at the Toronto Reference Library. Review, analyze and find trends using government open data sets.
