Repair Your Car Yourself
Use the library e-resource Chilton Library, which is accessible anywhere (1) your car calls out to be pushed onto its side and repaired, (2) you have your tools with you and (3) you have something, besides what you're wearing, to wipe your hands on.

Instructions:
- Use the "Vehicle Selector" menus on the left of the home page to select your car by, first, year, then make, then model.
- Click on "Select."
- Then click on "Repair" under the heading "Data is available for the following."
Now you're at the home page of the repair manual for the vehicle you've selected. The table of contents is on the left. On the right, an empty screen.
- Click on a category in the table of contents to get to the table of contents of that category.
- Keep clicking until you get to the heading of a specific repair procedure. When you click on this heading, the procedure will appear on the screen to the right of the table of contents.
Note the category chain at the top of the table of contents. In the picture above, "Top / Engine Electrical / Repair Instructions / Removal, Installation, and Replacement" etc. You can click on "Top" to return to the main table of contents. You can click on any of the other categories to return to the table of contents of that category.

Hey thanks for providing this online auto repair resource. I will let my friend know about this as his car needs some replacement of parts and service but he’s skeptical of local repair shops…
I was looking for something like this. I am very passionate about car repairs. I think these kind of resources are very helpful for learning about basic car repairs. As a newbie in this field,I concentrate in self learning rather than regular courses. Anyway, thanks for this information.
Lovely – expect to see a lot of cars on their side! Does this cover scooters too?
I looked in Chilton Library’s “Vehicle Selector” menu for Italian manufacturers of motor scooter — Aprilia, Benelli, Beta, Garelli, Gilera, Piaggio and Vespa (in fact manufactured by Piaggio) — and didn’t see any. Nor did I see any French or Japanese. I conclude that Chilton Library doesn’t cover scooters.
Wow, that pic caught my attention! How did the guy manage to keep the car from tipping over…and how did he even get it up on its side?? I remember reading about one mini 2 seat car being turned on the side by a group of four drunk rowdy teenagers in downtown Toronto in Canada, and the driver got back very angry and annoyed! I’d love to do my car repairs (I build my own PCs) but don’t quite know my way around it fully yet…(Honda accord EX-L V6 2015)
My dad’s future brother-in-law and his friends once turned his car upside down when he was visiting my mom. My dad was annoyed too.
If you want to start repairing your car yourself, maybe you could start with a book (or e-book) like “Auto repair & maintenance” (in the Idiot’s Guides series). The blurb makes it sound good (though a blurb would): “Dozens of step-by-step, full-color photos and illustrations make DIY car repairs and maintenance so much easier, regardless of make or model.”
To find books on car repair in the library catalogue (tpl.ca), search with the subject heading “Automobiles — Maintenance and repair”. (You don’t need to use capitals or punctuation.) Click on “Advanced” to the right of the search box on the home page to get to where you can do a subject-heading search.

Hi Mr. Harris, I can’t give you tips on how to repair your car. But I can give you tips on how to use this TPL car-repair e-resource, Chilton Library.
1st. Go to the e-resource from the TPL home page, tpl.ca. (Enter “chiltons” in the search box on the home page.) Then select your vehicle in the Vehicle Selector box. You select a year, make and model from drop-down menus.
2nd. Click on “Repair” in the list of options on the next page (Repair, Maintenance, etc.) to get to the repair manual for the vehicle you’ve selected.
3rd. The next page shows the table of contents of the repair manual. But you can also use the search box at the top of this table of contents to find what you want.
I searched with the words “fuel leak” and there were 5 results for the vehicle I selected. You click on the result and you’re taken to the corresponding page of the repair manual.
Let me know if you need more help using this e-resource.

I think repairing your car with the help of an online dictionary won’t bear good results especially if you are doing it for the first time.
