Free Science Events in Toronto for October 2019
The Business, Science & Technology Department of North York Central Library compiles a monthly calendar of free science and applied science events in Toronto. Applied science includes health, gardening, pets and food – all subjects found in the department's collection. Here is the October calendar (PDF).
October's highlights include:
Oct. 10. How Did We Get Here? The Cosmos, Humanity, and the Unknown. An interactive panel discussion and Q&A on the Big Questions: the orgins of the Earth, humans, and the cosmos.
Oct. 15 & 16. Distinguished Lecture Series in Statistical Sciences. Oct. 15: Inference Meets Computation: Dynamical, Stochastic and Economic Perspectives. Oct. 16: On Gradient-Based Optimization: Accelerated, Stochastic and Nonconvex.
Oct. 23. Introduction to Reinforcement Learning. Reinforcement learning (RL) is a branch of machine learning in which an agent interacts with an environment in order to maximize a specified reward.
