The History
Matters series launches at the Yorkville branch Tuesday, September 14,
2 p.m. During the 1960s, Yorkville was the
centre of a vibrant political and social culture. Historian Stuart
Henderson brings that rich history to life in his talk, Making the Scene in
1960s Yorkville
.
Henderson—an historian, professor, musician,
pacifist, and journalist—holds a PhD in cultural history from Queen's. He is a
Features Editor at PopMatters Media, a sometime pop culture columnist for CBC
Radio One and singer-songwriter for the independent folk-rock band Ghostwalk
Creek. "All of this is fun," he says, "but he’d rather be camping.” His book, Making the Scene: Yorkville and Hip
Toronto in the 1960s, comes out in 2011.

Connect with Toronto historians at these lively lectures
