Calling all artists

Calling All Artists! Toronto Public Library is hosting an information session for artists. Open to all, it is particularly aimed at artists interested in exhibiting their work in the library's many branch settings.

Thursday, January 27, 6:30-8:30 pm, Room 200, Northern District Branch, 40 Orchardview Blvd (Eglinton Subway)

Toronto Public Library has 14 exhibit spaces, free of charge, for art exhibits which reflect the diverse cultural interests of the City and its neighbourhoods. If you would like to learn more about exhibiting your work at TPL, this info session is for you. TPL's staff experts will give you the inside scoop on preparing your submission and application, selecting pieces for exhibit, the jury process and effective display techniques, and we are also offering a special presentation by staff from our Digital Design Studio.

Guest speaker Susan Cohen, Program Director of Cultural Careers Council Ontario, will offer tips on improving sales, and on pricing and marketing your work. There will be time for questions and answers, too. Don't miss out! For more information, contact the Arts Exhibits Office, 416-393-7224 artexhibits@torontopubliclibrary.ca.

  1. Hi Dylana:
Thanks for your inquiry. This event is for all artists–any media, genre–who are interested in learning about displaying their work–in library spaces in the first instance, but the content will be helpful in any context. The same applies to the tips on pricing and marketing. So do feel free to come. No other comparable session is planned just now.

  2. I really hope you can schedule another session… on a weekend perhaps? I’m very interested in the information but can’t make it tonight due to an ongoing class at U of T. If not, is there a way you can make a summary of the information available via a web page or facebook page, etc.
    Thank you,
    Anne
