Culture Days @ the Library for Kids

The library’s Culture Days events are geared to a wide range of ages and many are perfect for families. But there are also lots of activities that will especially appeal to kids. Here is a sampling.

Dancing Fun for Little Ones! Young children, 3-11, are invited to attend a lesson on dance and choreography. Participants create a character for a performance afterwards, using provided costumes and props. Beaches Branch, Saturday, October 1, 2011, 10:30-11:30 am. Organized by the The Space.

Children's Art Exhibition. Children, ages 5-14 will present 25-30 their artwork on culture, hobbies, dreams, wishes and the environment.  A beautiful exhibition which will also allow for feedback and audience input. Victoria Village Branch , Saturday, October 1, 2011, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Shorts for Short People. aluCine Toronto Latin Film & Media Arts Festival screens a selection of animated shorts from Latin America and around the world. These shorts feature the best in animation, fiction and claymation, in stories about magic, the environment, adventure and fantastic tales from many different cultures. Recommended ages: 5-12, but let's be honest, these shorts are for tall people too!  St. Clair/Silverthorn, Saturday, October 1, 2011, 12-4 pm, with three screenings.

Just east on St. Clair, the Dufferin/St. Clair Branch has an Origami activity on Saturday afternoon, October 1, from 1-4 pm.We have wonderful storytellers too! On Saturday, October 1, Gail Nyoka will be at York Woods from 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM, and June Brown & Anna Kerz will be at North York Central, 1:30-3:30, Room 1.

You can plan your times and locations, and it’s even colour-coded by category.  Beaches, Dufferin/St. Clair, St. Clair/Silverthorn and Victoria Village branches each have several other Culture Days activities.
