For those of you living in and around the Scarborough area, we are hosting several free activities this weekend that are sure to spark your interest. To find out what activity your local Scarborough branch is hosting check out the listings below.

Kick-start your weekend early by stopping by Cedarbrae Library on Friday, September 30th for a free Afro-Brazilian Dance Workshop from 3-4 pm. Let Adrianna Yanuziello from Toronto’s leading Afro-Brazilian dance company Dance Migration bring the culture of Brazil to you with an invigorating dance experience. Not in the mood for dance? Stick around Cedarbrae Library for Blood and Chosen: Finding our way home – an interactive story-based workshop that explores personal experiences of family presented by Onyinyechukwu Udegbe and Yaya Yao @ 4:30 pm

On October 1 Albert Campbell Library is hosting an interactive performance Stories of Culture from 1-4 pm. You are invited to share a personal story and watch as it is recreated on stage by actors from the Toronto Playback Theatre.

Drop by Bendale Library on October 1st from 1-4 pm for Stories from the Four Directions presented by Red Bear. Learn history and culture from this group of First Nations artists in this fun, interactive Indigenous storytelling performance.   

Make a wish at Guildwood Library on October 1st between 1-4 pm at their Wish Tree station. Toronto Children’s Playworks invites everyone to draw and write on wish leaves to put up on a wish tree.

Join IMPACT–Indian Martial and Performance Arts Collective of Toronto at Malvern Library on October 1 @ 2 pm for an Indian Martial Arts Workshop & Demo. Watch and learn one of the oldest martial art forms, Kalaripayattu, or kalari in this interactive workshop.

Forget the gym and opt for a fun and exhilarating dance workout at Morningside Library on October 1 @ 2:30 pm. Jennifer Hicks will inspire you to dance your way to fitness with her workshop Nia: Dance, get fit, have fun!

Toronto’s percussion-jazz orchestra DRUMHAND will be performing at Highland Creek Library on October 1st from 2-4:30 pm for an interactive concert DRUMHAND interactive concert. Participate in the fun as you are introduced to instruments and sounds from around the world.
