Richview Branch: Culture Days @ the Library Hub
COLOR ME BADD
by Maciek (Richview)
Culture Days events take place in some 45 Toronto Public Library branches across the city, but the Richview Library is proud to host four of them, all on Saturday, October 1. And there are two that will be especially interesting for anybody who wants to learn about painting.
A visual and community artist Faten Toubasi will teach an interactive workshop on basic (and, at the same time, unconventional) watercolour techniques, applying these techniques with variety of different materials. Participants will have a chance to use their newly-acquired skills by creating their own gift cards!
Saturday October 1st, 10 am – 12 pm, Richview Library. Suitable for all ages, with exception of very small children.
Do you know what "Dodalism" is?… Dodalism is a "creative process which borrows from the stream of consciousness and Zen approaches to channeling creativity". There is a very good chance you are a Dodalism fan, and you simply haven't found out, yet :-)
On October 1 (same day) the artist known as Sio will deliver a live painting performance with contributions from the audience (that means you!). It will be the third instalment in an ongoing project “In the beginning there was nothing…” Saturday October 1st, 12.30 pm – 4 pm, Richview Library.
Also at Richview, Echo Choir, which has tons of fans and followers in Toronto, will perform a set of mostly a capella songs. Learn a South African song in 4-part harmony, involving clapping, and be prepared for some dancing too! 1:30-3 pm in the Art Gallery.
Finally, on your way out or in, don't forget to check out the Dodge Ram in the parking lot. This is the home of Allison Rowe's Tar Sands Exploration Station. But that is the subject of a separate posting–stay tuned!
