Science Programs This Fall

Brentwood is kicking off a Makers' Club on September 23–this is chance for kids to unleash their inner Isaac Newton and try out some science experiments and explore new technologies.

 


Reid_270x270px-e13699335373771At Deer Park on October 23, 2 pm, hear Dr. Michael Reid (who is an amazing speaker) talk about Life in the Cosmos and the strategies used by astronomers to search for life elsewhere in the
universe and suggest some promising directions for this research. He
will also discuss the fascinating problem of Fermi's Paradox–the
question of why, if there is intelligent life elsewhere in the
universe,we have not encountered it yet–and consider several possible
resolutions.

Dr. Reid is a key member of the organizing committee for the inaugural Toronto Science Festival, taking place in September 2013 and he also organized the incredible Transit of Venus event at Varsity Stadium in 2012.

Other science programs this fall include a talk on the development of vaccinations, a six-part series on science in history, a look at the amazing laboratories at Toronto Rehab and a Tech Discovery Fair for older adults.
