The Keep Toronto Reading festival is almost here! By Brian Francis
With more than 80 events at 50 branches, the Keep Toronto Reading festival, running April 1-30, truly is a city-wide celebration of books.
This year’s One Book, The Cellist of Sarajevo, has been the inspiration for many of our festival events.

The Traveling Cellist
Twenty-two days of pop-up cellist performances in locations around the city, including malls, museums, markets, and everything in between. Bring your e-reader to download the first two chapters of The Cellist of Sarajevo. In partnership with Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

Joseph Johnson
Our festival officially kicks off with TSO principal cello, Joseph Johnson, and poet Ann Shin. Hosted by CBC’s Robert Harris.

The Siege of Sarajevo and the Legacy of the First World War
A panel discussion with Margaret MacMillan, Janice Stein and Paul Heinbecker. Hosted by CBC’s Carol Off.

Romeo and Juliet in Sarajevo
A screening of the acclaimed documentary by John Zaritsky, who will be in attendance for a post-screening Q & A. In partnership with Hot Docs.
