Beth Anne Cole: “Gifts in the Old, Old Ground”
At the St. Lawrence branch on Tuesday, April 29 at 7 pm, singer, actress and poet Beth Anne Cole will share her poetry and songs, accompanied by master guitarist Brian Katz. Beth Anne's musical program will draw on the rich historical traditions of poetry. Not to be missed!
Beth Anne Cole is a major singing and acting talent. She started singing professionally at the age of 15 with stints on the CBC and other broadcasters. She studied at the Stratford Festival in Canada and in England at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
Beth Anne has played leading roles at many regional theatres: Neptune Theatre in Halifax, National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Winnipeg’s Rainbow Stage and Factory Theatre, Theatre Passe Muraille, Tarragon Theatre, Royal Alexandra Theatre, all in Toronto.
In addition to acting, Beth Anne established a distinguished career as a concert artist, songwriter and recording artist, singing at the Shaw Festival, Glenn Gould Theatre in Toronto, Carnegie Hall in New York and many more venues in the U.S. and Canada. She has also recorded two CDs, both of are beautiful and can be found in the library's collection: Gifts in the old, old ground and Song under the stair. She is presently working on a third album.
