Pride

In celebration of World Pride 2014, the four pillars at the library's Yorkville Branch – home to the library's LGBT Collection – will be wrapped in rainbow colours for the month of June.

The wrap was organized by Toronto Public Library Pride Alliance, a volunteer-run employee resource group at the library. The group is also organizing a library staff presence in this year's Pride parade on Sunday, June 29.

During the month of June, please join the library for a series of programs and events in celebration of World Pride.

If you visit the rainbow pillars, be sure to share your photos on Twitter by tweeting the library @TorontoLibrary and include the hashtag #WorldPride

  1. In 1946 after graduating from N.T.C.I. I had the marks but not enough money to enrol at U. of T. For two years I worked for the Dickie Construction Co. (payroll clerk) which was at 17 Yorkville Ave. almost directly opposite the Y.orkville Library. It was almost a decade later after graduating with 1st class Honours in Honour Biology that i accepted that I was GAY. Now 86 I finally became a gay activist after moving to salt Spring Island, B.C. 24 years ago. I was one of the founding members of GLOSSI, gays and lesbians of SSI.
