Caitlin Moran

On September 22nd, Caitlin Moran, the British columnist and critic, joined us for a talk about her funny yet deeply moving coming-of-age novel, How to Build a Girl. Her buoyant personality was reflected in her impromptu entrance on to the Appel Salon stage and in her animated reading from her novel. Click below for the full interview with The Globe & Mail’s Johanna Schneller:

Lena Dunham

On October 23rd, acclaimed creator, producer and star of HBO's Girls, and a newly green-haired Lena Dunham, visited Toronto Reference Library to talk about her hilarious, wise and fiercely candid collection of personal essays, Not That Kind of Girl. We opened the event with a special introduction by Canadian writer/TV personality Elaine Liu, who rallied in her introduction “you’re here because she writes…No matter how much she tells us, it’s not enough". The event welcomed over 1000 fans and was even mentioned on Perez Hilton
