Teen Review: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Review by Sharoon, member of the Cedarbrae Youth Advisory Group
The movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was released in May of 2017. This movie is the sequel to the very successful first movie that was released in 2014. This movie follows this group known as the Guardians of the Galaxy travelling around the universe as they try to help Peter Quill learn about the mysteries about his paren'ts.
The real story begins as the Guardians get on the nerves of this race known as the Sovereign, after Rocket Raccoon steals batteries from them. This leads to the Sovereign going after them, but luckily they are saved by Ego. Peter learns the truth about his family as he figures out that he has Celestial powers.
He decides to fight against Ego when he learns about the fact that it was Ego who infected his mother. Later, the other Guardians join Peter to defeat Ego and the Sovereign. After they put an end to the Sovereign, both Rocket Raccoon and Baby Groot place a bomb in Ego’s brain. This leads to the death of Ego, as Peter loses his powers. To save Peter’s life, Yondu gives him his space suit as he pays the price of death in the place of Peter. A funeral is held in the end for Yondu as many come to give him final respects.
Although there were a few things that could have been done differently throughout the movie, this movie was still very good. This movie attracts many viewers with its intense drama, action and brawl scenes. There were many scenes in the movie, especially the fighting scenes, that I would definitely give an A+. In my opinion, this was by far the best superhero movie of the year. Overall, I would give this movie a solid 9/10. I encourage people to watch this movie in their spare time.
