Bungo stray dogsBungou Stray Dogs is probably one of my favourite animes when it comes to action, superpowers and a good story line. It’s about a boy named Atsushi who was in an orphanage, later kicked out because he had the ability called “Beast Beneath the Moonlight” which turned him into a white tiger when under moonlight or in tight situations. Atsushi was a really well-made character, from his sad past to his odd but great personality, he’s able to show the viewers what he went through and his surprise when he realized his ability to turn into a tiger. He was an amazing character but I feel like his upsetting side got a bit boring since he kept repeating the same thing over and over again, about how he was called useless in the orphanage when he should have already known it wasn’t his fault he got kicked out. His character had a great mix of personalities, the transitions between his goofy side to his serious side could have been a bit more clean, instead of going from happy to straight up serious. Atsushi was a pretty basic character which had an ability almost any creative person could think of, but the fact that Kafka Asagiri (the animator) chose to use a tiger instead of a werewolf was very interesting, a good twist since tigers are much stronger than wolves, further expressing how strong Atsushi was to handle all these rough spots in his life.

Moving on to Daizai, a suicidal, goofy character. Kafka made an amazing decision and an interesting one to add a suicidal character within the anime, but giving him a very interesting twist. Daizai is one of those characters that sound depressing since he wants to kill himself, but he’s actually really funny and really goofy. It really surprised me when I further examined his personality, the creator of this anime makes Daizai seem like he’s trying to die just for the sake of dying. His character was extremely well-made, from his ability, to his back story. His ability allowed him to cancel out any other abilities, making him the strongest since Kafka Asagiri decided to make every ability come with a flaw. Daizai has an amazing character design which is very classic for an anime character and the transitions between his moods are extremely clean because he incorporates the goofy side of himself with the sad side of himself.

Overall Bungou Stray Dogs is an amazing anime, the art style is beautiful, the character designs are unique but not too crazy (even though there are some very interesting looking characters). It’s a great action anime, some heroes trying to solve a problem. The character personalities are extremely well-made since they are so unique and different. The abilities created by Kafka Asagiri are very creative and very cool to think about. What made this anime great for me, is how they didn’t just focus the anime on Atsushi, but on Daizai as well to give the anime more episodes, more information and more intriguing content. I really recommend anime viewers to watch this if they haven’t already, especially if they are into action.
