(2008) Stuart Berman
When the self-described "beautiful mess" Broken Social Scene formed in 1999, they presumably had no idea what a huge impact they would have on the independent music scene in Canada. Yet over the last decade, BSS has not only released a handful of incredibly influential albums, but has also served as a launching pad for some of this country's most recognizable independent musicians. In This Book is Broken, veteran EYE Weekly reporter Stuart Berman chronicles the rise of BSS through short essays, photos, and countless interviews with BSS members and the many other musicians, artists and journalists who have been pulled into the bands' orbit.
