Karen Armstrong and Compassion
"We call upon all men and women to restore compassion to the centre of morality and religion . . . to cultivate an informed empathy with the suffering of all human beings – even those regarded as enemies." These words come from the Charter of Compassion and are the result of Karen Armstrong's 2008 TED Prize wish for a more compassionate world.
Karen Armstrong will be discussing her latest book Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life in the Appel Salon at 7:00 p.m. this Monday night – January 17th, 2011.
A new ticketing system for free Appel Salon events is now in place. Tonight's event sold out early, a testament to Armstrong's stature and wide popularity.
