It’s Easier Being Green
"It's not easy being green" has a whole new meaning when it comes to living in the City. It's getting easier, Kermit! The City of Toronto has caught world-wide attention with its "green" approach to urban planning, construction, waste management, pollution control, bio-diversity projects and more.
Just this week, Toronto has been recognized as the most sustainable large city in Canada at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities conference in Victoria, B.C. This is the second year that Toronto has received this honour.
We have green bins, green roofs, green development, and greening of surface parking lots. Take a look at Livegreen Toronto and you will find Live Green, Green Your Neighbourhood, Green Kids and School, Green Your Business and Green Deals. The Urban Affairs Library will be co-hosting a Thought Exchange program on bio-diversity with the City on April 19th at the Toronto Reference Library.
Come down to The Urban Affairs Library and find all kinds of books, reports and magazines on environmental issues. Here are a few City reports; in future posts, we will take a look at material from other levels of government and experts in the field.
