Jstor_logo JSTOR, announced this week that  they are making journal content in JSTOR published prior to 1923 in the United States and prior to 1870 elsewhere freely available to anyone, anywhere in the world.

"This “Early Journal Content” includes discourse and scholarship in the arts and humanities, economics and politics, and in mathematics and other sciences.  It includes nearly 500,000 articles from more than 200 journals."

The site also includes a short helpful video tutorial and FAQ to get you started.

Of course, if you have a Toronto Public Library card, you may already be familiar with this archive of older important scholarly journals. You can access its content for free via our website.  That includes more than a thousand academic journals and over 1 million images, letters, and other primary sources.

Toronto Public Library offers over 100 databases, most of which you can connect to from home or any computer with internet access.  You can find historical and early content right through to the latest newsstand releases.
