What
is a MakerSpace?
MakerSpaces refer to communities of people who come together to share resources and knowledge and to create things. Members can'tinker,
hack, and remake “stuff.” The spaces foster play, facilitate informal learning,
nurture peer-to-peer training and ultimately cultivate an interest in science, technology
and design.
HackLab.TO in Kensington Market is one
such space: “ HackLab.TO is a community
space with a diverse membership, including artists, computer programmers, web
designers, and hardware hackers. It is inspired by the philosophies of the
global hackerspaces movement which encourages people to socialize, share
knowledge, and work together on their projects. "
Come and join Eric and Rob, members of HackLab.TO, and see
their 3-D printer in action! They will be demonstrating and discussing some
really cool projects such as robots and wearable electronics. They will also discuss the upcoming
Toronto Mini Maker Faire.
