National Security and the Limits of Freedom of Expression"

Who: Jesse Brown, a CBC journalist and columnist for Toronto Life, will moderate a panel that will include, Ron Deibert, Colin Freeze, and Wesley Wark.
What: How should a democracy balance national security with freedom of expression? Are government programs that capture and analyse metadata, or acquire private information from foreign intelligence agencies, worth the loss of our rights to privacy and free speech?
Where: The Atrium of the Toronto Reference Library, 789 Yonge Street, Toronto (Yonge and Bloor)
When: Friday Feb 28th, 2014, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Why: To celebrate 30 years of Freedom to Read Week.
How: A ten dollar donation to PEN is requested to support the work of PEN Canada.
