United Way

A great big thank you to all who contributed to the 2009 United Way campaign. Despite a shortened campaign run, we were still able to raise $136,620 in pledges, or 90% of our goal. An additional $13,052.88 was raised through special events.

The annual United Way Thank You Tea was held at TRL on January 14th, and several awards were presented to canvassers:

Innovation Award: Richard De Melo, Annette Street

Spare Change Award – Highest Branch Total – High Park

CN Tower Top Pledge Fundraiser: Carol Chong Cedarbrae/Bendale

CN Tower Fastest Climber Margaret Won – 17. 04 minutes – NYCL BU

Special Events – Highest Total – Helen Ramires – 281 Front St.

At the City recognition event held in December, Margaret Won was also the recipient of the top TPL canvasser award.

2009 Co-Chair Fabienne Fox would like to personally thank all library staff, her hard working Co-Chair, Linda Falconer, the United Way Committee, the canvassers and all the volunteers for their generosity. Your continued support will provide funding for thousands of Torontonians from all walks of life. This marked Fabienne's last year as Management Co-Chair, and she would like to wish every success for the 2010 Campaign to Mark Williams, who will be taking over.
