Library hosts its third Human Library program this October

TORONTO (Wednesday, October 3, 2012) –Toronto Public Library will be hosting its popular Human Library again this year at three branches across the city. Human “books” can be checked out for a half hour one-on-one conversation, allowing borrowers to walk in someone else’s shoes and learn something new.   

The Human Library will take place on Saturday, October 20 at Toronto Reference and North York Central libraries, as well as at Parkdale Branch. In celebration of Small Business Month, this year’s collection has a special emphasis on entrepreneurs, featuring a half dozen energetic, creative and successful business people, including the library’s first ever Entrepreneur in Residence. Other human books this year include titles on such wide-ranging topics as dumpster diving, police and social media, Toronto transit, peacekeeping, food trucks in Toronto, community engagement and more.

Starting October 6, Human books can be placed on hold using your Toronto Public Library card by calling or coming into one of the host branches. Spots may also be available the day of the event but people are encouraged to place a hold on their favourite book early to avoid disappointment.
