Sydney Padua
Sydney Padua is an animator and graphic novelist who can generally be found making giant monsters appear to attack people for movies such as Clash of the Titans and The Jungle Book. She grew up partly in Mexico City, partly in Edmonton, and partly in Narnia. After studying theatre at the University of Alberta she learned to animate at Sheridan College near Toronto, and worked on hand-drawn animation in Los Angeles. She was eventually dragged, complaining loudly, into computer animation.
She started drawing her steampunk webcomic The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage by accident and is still trying to figure out how to stop. The book version won'the British Society for the History of Mathematics Neumann Prize and is nominated for two Eisner Awards, probably the first time this has happened.
She’s married to a BBC journalist and lives in London, England. Sometimes she keeps pet mice. Sometimes there are freelance mice about too.
