Toronto based author, Kenneth Oppel’s newest book is sure to please old and new fans, alike! Set in 19th-century badlands, Oppel weaves together the story of Samuel Bolt, the son of renowned paleontologist Michael Bolt and Rachel Cartland, the daughter of Yale professor Frederick Cartland.
Samuel and Rachel first meet at a conference attended by their fathers. Immediately, the two notice each other and together they bond over paleontology and their hopes for the future. But when both fathers decide to follow the same lead to a dig site, the tension and rivalry between each family becomes overwhelming, creating difficulties for the duo’s budding relationship.
Kenneth Oppel captures the story of two determined star crossed lovers against the backdrop of the sand and rock of the badlands.
