United Way Agencies

Today's featured agency is Scouts Canada Greater Toronto Council . "We offer the most dynamic outdoor youth programs in Canada. Through hikes, camps and a wide variety of water activities, our programs instill a thirst for outdoor adventure that will last the rest of their lives…We are Scouts Canada – the same organization that has been helping kids grow up since 1907. With over 95 years of experience, we must be doing something right."

The programs are available to boys, girls, men and women from ages 5 to 26. The intent is to instill self-confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills in youth as well as a respect for the environment, one's community, and the world at large. The programs are subdivided as follows, viz.:

BEAVERS: Ages 5 – 7
CUBS: Ages 8 – 10
SCOUTS: Ages 11 – 14
VENTURERS: Ages 14 – 17
ROVERS: Ages 18 – 26

Scouting is based on the three broad principles of of duty to God, duty to others, and duty to self.
