Transitioning to the New Website

July 14, 2010 | TPL Staff | Comments (7)

Starting July 14th, we began the process of migrating our website users to our new website. The new website has been in beta since December 2009. Since then over
100,000 users have visited and tried the new site. Hundreds of
customers and staff have provided comments about the new search and
changes. You can review customer comments and feedback through the Web
Team Blog
and staff comments and feedback through this blog.

Thanks to all who took the time to use the site an provided detailed and helpful feedback.

As you can see the feedback has been very positive and starting today, we begin the task of moving users
over to the new site permanently. Not all users will be moved over at once, this is being done gradually in order to monitor the site's performance and make sure we have time to adjust if needed.

Customers are being directed to a launch communication that provides an overview. We expect to complete the transition in the next few weeks and will communicate more to you when the final cut over is completed.

Please see the staff launch FAQ for more information about the launch.

If you receive feedback questions that are not answered in the FAQs provided, please email the Web Team and let us know.

  1. I had a borrower point out that the hours listed for Swansea Memorial Branch are not correctly indicated. Where you check on the site of hours for individual branches (the right side of the screen), it will say for example, open today (Thurs) from 10-6, with no clear indication that we are closed on Tue and Thur from 12-1. You have it indicated when you look for the branch in the a-z listing on the left side of the screen. Can you please fix this, before I have to listen to another borrower complain about the new website. Thanks

  2. An aspect of finding programs does not work. I selected a branch and then selected the option to see programs by month. For one thing, the popup that displayed was off to the side of my screen so I did not see it all. I could use it though. Then it said there were no programs at the branch but I found when I looked at the full list that there were programs.

  3. I tried to use MasterFile from home over the weekend, and was not able to access the full database. After logging in with my library card # and PIN, I reached a screen which asked me to Choose Databases, and the choices were only “America: History & Life” and “Historical Abstracts”. This morning I tested it again in the library and found the same result when I tried to get in via the homepage. However, using the Ingenium menu then “Title List of Databases available in this branch” did lead to the full MaterFile Premier database. Are you working on providing the full content remotely?
