What Did We Read Last Week : Part 4 – The Readening

Last week I read:

  • Scott Pilgrim Volume 6!  Yay!  TPL already has copies available to borrow / place holds on–I got mine at the midnight release party at The Beguiling, where I had the same thought I usually do going to these kind of events these days: "My gosh, almost everyone else here is younger than me." (IT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU TOO).  Anyway, I've read it through twice now and am still making up my mind about how I feel, but in general I thought it was a wonderful ending.  No more spoilers than that!
  • A ton of Hellboy and B.P.R.D graphic novels.  I haven't kept up with this series in the last couple of years, but man is it good.
  • Soulless by Gail Carriger.  Recommended to me by staff members at the Merril Collection, who've never steered me wrong–this is a fun mix of steampunk, supernatural and Jane Austen-ish romance.  Looking forward to reading the others in the series!

What did everyone else read last week?

Alan H. is a web librarian at Toronto Public Library.  He is getting a little too old to stay up past midnight, even for Scott Pilgrim Volume 6.

  1. I read:
-The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey: Has enough cartoons to be “entertaining”,and teaches you how to live your life in a favourable way (kind of).
-I also read Skip Beat Volumes 4,5,6. I really recommend this series to manga lovers and also to people who like a strong heroine.

  2. Last week I read: In Too Deep, Out of the Cold and Nothing to Lose from the Robyn Hunter Mysteries by Norah McClintock.

  3. Last week I read:
->Eldest by Christopher Paolini (chomping on Brisingr now)
->Strange Times at Western High by Emily Pohl-Weary (teen mystery – the only thing that makes it different are the details about Toronto teen living)

  4. I read
-Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins (Sequel to The Hunger Games)
-The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
-Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief By Rick Riordan
This week I’m gonna continue with the Percy Jackson series. 🙂

  5. I read “Something like Fate” and “When it Happens” by Susane Colasanti. Both books were great but hoping to find “The One” but for a book. Weird but true 🙂

  17. I am currently reading the mediator series, I finished reading the first 3 weeks last week :).
The Mediator Series, is about Suze Simon, a hilarious herione who happens to see ghosts. At first I found the story a bit dumb, but the book really is good, especially if you’re reading for the fun of it. 🙂

  18. I read a book called “Life as it Comes” by Anne-Laure Bondoux.
It’s really suitable for teenage girls.
It follows the life of a responsible 15-year old being taken care of by a careless 20-year old, after their paren’ts died in an accident (the girls are sisters).
Every thing is all right, except when the 15-year old finds out her sister is pregnant with a boyfriend who she broke up with.
It’s funny, yet makes you want to cry at some points.
I loved this book so much, I never put it down for 3 hours straight!
    Try it sometime! 🙂
