What We Read Last Week, Part 7:

August 16, 2010 | Alan H. | Comments (14)

I finally finished Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan – fabulous book about love and friendship, starring two teenagers both named Will Grayson, and Tiny Cooper, "the world's largest person who is really, really gay, and also the world's gayest person who is really, really large".  I think this is probably the best YA novel I've read this summer.

Also read volume 12 of Robert Kirkman's Invincible–still the best "teen superheroes" comic going, in my opinion.

And not a book, but I saw the Scott Pilgrim movie on opening night.  Yay!  It was great to see Toronto in a movie actually playing itself (instead of Chicago or New York).

Hard to believe the summer is nearly over.  What did the rest of you read last week?

Alan H. is a web librarian at Toronto Public Library.  He stayed up way too late after the Scott Pilgrim movie playing the Scott Pilgrim video game, and is still feeling it three days later.

  1. it took me a little longer than i wanted, but i finally got to finish the 3rd book in the house of night series ; chosen. the storyline, like all 5 books, is incredible. this book in particular is about a fledgling vampire, zoey, who has to figure out a way to save her undead friend, stevie rae, while having to deal with her best friends turning into her enemies and her mentor/teacher , Nefret, turning against her.
ammazing book ! you must read the entire house of night series by p.c. cast and kristin cast.
    happy reading ! <3

  9. I’m really glad you enjoyed “Will Grayson, Will Grayson”! It’s one of the better books I’ve read this year as well.
This week, I read this amazing novel called “Someday This Pain Will Be Useful to You” by Peter Cameron. It’s a coming-of-age story, which I usually tend to avoid due to previous bad experiences with them, but this was just, once again, amazing.
It’s not a tedious read, which I found was the problem with many other books of the same genre. In fact, the voice of the protagonist was quite funny (in that sarcastic kind of way) and clever, bearing many characteristics that reminded me of myself…which was probably why I enjoyed it so much.
It’s a very, very smart novel. You should all go and read it.
