I got this book a long time ago, and I’ve read over all the stories at least once. I didn’t get some of them due to not knowing the source material (I’ve never watched Star Trek, and when I first read it, I’d never seen Rocky Horror picture show, either, which made the last story VERY confusing…) My favourite story was “One of Us”, mostly because it was just the kind of story that I enjoy. I liked seeing a popular kid learn why geeks like the culture of it so much.
A few months ago, I discovered that John Green, an author I love, had written one of the stories, “Freak the Geek”, and it was a nice surprise having another piece of his writing to read. And after I watched Rocky Horror Picture Show, I found the last story to be another of my favourites.
I would recommend this book to anyone who knows many different facets of geek culture, but not to someone who just thought Star Wars was cool and that now they’re a geek. It’s a book by true geeks, for true geeks.
