I was very confused as to why this manga in particular was selected to be a summer read considering it is part of a series and I don’t understand how someone could possibly read the 23 volume and understand what was going on. The volume itself was mediocre; not bad but certainly not the best I have ever read. It was about the school basketball team playing their first game which just so happens to be with an A list high school. The ending was a bit bitter sweet because it did stop at such an intense portion of the match however; it really made me want to read the following volume. I can’tell that the series gets better over time because I have read the first few volumes of Slam Dunk a while ago and was defiantly not satisfied with what I was reading. However, now that I read the 23rd volume I have to admit I might just have to re-read the series because I did not remember it being so good. I loved the coach and he was probably my favorite character because he was so humorous and wise. With that being said, if you judge the book based on the drawing skills it definitely lacks in proportions and details. The one reason I may not continue reading this manga is because the drawings are not to my preferred standards. If you are a person whom only reads manga for the plot and could care less about the quality of the drawing then I’m sure you will love this series and so I would recommend it to those who have a passion for a good sports manga and a love for the sport of basketball.
Thanks for letting us know. Are there any sport-related manga that you’d recommend? We’d love to know about it!
