What do you want to read today?

Blog image wordout_275x275pxIf you have only five minutes today to read something you really want to read, what will you read?

Will it be a cookbook? If so, we've got a great booklist for you.

Will it be a sci fi novel? Again, we've got a booklist.

Will it be THE THREE LITTLE PIGS? Yes, we actually do have a booklist (fairy tales and myths).

Will it be QUIET PLEASE: DISPATCHES FROM A PUBLIC LIBRARIAN?

Okay, well, we don't actually have a booklist with that kind of thing (probably for the better).

But, if there is something you really want to read, or something you just finished reading that you loved, and we don't have a booklist that covers it, then just make your own booklist — and share it here.

Make a list of computer technical manuals that excite you, video game FAQs that you've loved, travel books that make you long to wander the world.

At the library, we don't care what you read.

Really. We don't.

If you want to read the back of your cereal box and tell us about it here, do it.

If you want to read the lyrics of a song by your favourite band, and do an analysis here on the WORD OUT website of why these lyrics are so great, do it.

At the library, read what YOU want to read.

Then join us here at WORD OUT and talk about what you like to read… or what you don't.

And find out what other people like to read…Maybe you'll find something new. Maybe you'll try something a little different. It's entirely up to you.

What matters here is that you read it because you want to — not because you have to write an essay, or summarize the plot, or get into a good university, or figure out how to work the new toaster oven.

WORD OUT is your chance to read what you want to read.

So read whatever it is that you want to read today, and then tell the world what you love and what you hate… what bores you, what excites you, what makes you happy, what makes you mad, and what makes you sad.

Oh, and also, there's some contests, some events listings… you can win stuff, too. I heard there might be some iPad minis up for grabs. And, you know, we love to give away books…

  1. So excited I got the chance to find and experience this site, it’s so fun and cool (and I get volunteer hours too, BONUS! ). Can’t wait to look into everything this has in store!
