Whether or not we eat breakfast is an age-old battle between paren't and child. We are always being told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day but that doesn't change the fact that some people don't eat breakfast. Some of us can't eat at the time of the morning we must if we have to get to classes on time while some don't get up with enough time to eat. Perhaps, if we had something exciting to look forward to we would joyfully consume a hearty breakfast.

Personally, I can eat at anytime but sometimes I just don't have time. This is where breakfast-to-go is a good idea and no, I don't mean coffee and a donut. If you're a student who commutes early then stocking your fridge with food-to-go is a good start. Fresh fruit, yogourt and granola are easy to throw together in a hurry. If you like your breakfast hot, cooking your eggs the night before and microwaving it in the morning may work for you. Also, a travel mug for your coffee or tea is a must.

Would you make breakfast if you had the time?

If you could have something other than cereal or oatmeal, what would it be?

  1. When I had time it was all eggs n toast. These days I don’t have much time, it’s peanut butter on toast. Everyday. I love peanut butter.

  2. I don’t know why, but I hate cereal. Instead, I have grown rather fond of bread with peanut butter and honey. They make a perfect combination. I agree that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but those who feel like barfing at the mere thought of food in the morning should get a pass and just take it easy until lunch.

  3. We have a long commute so sometimes I just bring along some toast or eggos or hot cereal. I get tired of cold cereal. The real talent is not getting dirty when you eat in the car.

  4. Like Joanna said, I agree that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I try not to miss any meal, especially breakfast. However, I do not eat enough since I always rush to get to school. If I had the time, I would make breakfast. Also, if I could have something other than oatmeal or cereal, I would have grilled cheese.

  5. Breakfast is important. When I was late in my mornings, even then, I would toss something into my bag just to keep me going for my morning classes. I would make breakfast if I had the time. Sometimes, instant oats or a banana and granola just aren’t good enough. I would make a yummy breakfast smoothie (so good!) and breakfast waffles or burrito. I would be happy with that.

  6. Yes. I would make my own breakfast if I had the time. I would cook some scrambled eggs with a bagel on the side. Then, I would drink some milk and head out the door.i have a lot of friends who skip breakfast, but it still is important.

  7. Most of my friends skip breakfast or eat barely anything weather because they don’t have time or just aren’t hungry. Personally, I can’t function at all without breakfast so I fully agree that it is the most important meal of the day. If I had time to make breakfast myself, I definitely would. Eating the food I make make myself give an odd satisfaction that make me want to eat it. But I’m usually a zombie in the morning so it doesn’t really happen. However if I could have something more appetizing than cold cereal or instant oatmeal, I would go with crepes or waffles and fresh fruits on top. Maybe some scrambled eggs and a fruit smoothie on the side.

  8. If I had time I’d make breakfast, but in this fast-paced society there’s always a rush to get things done and go places quickly. We never get the opportunity to just sit down and enjoy a healthy breakfast.

  9. I always make time for breakfast in the morning, it’s my time to relax before a test or review for a quiz in the morning. But I never have to make a big elaborate breakfast like on the weekends. If I could though I would probably eat bacon, eggs, a grapefruit and a berrie smoothie.

  10. I’m pretty sure I’ve eaten breakfast 99.9% of the time, that is, if you count the first meal of the day that you eat soon after you get up as breakfast, regardless of what time you actually get up at…

  11. Breakfast is extremely important I think. I know so many people who don’t eat breakfast and think that they don’t need it, but they’re greatly affected by the lack of nutrition and always complain about being hungry.
If I don’t eat by 10:00 AM, I’m not only hungry, but start to feel weak, dizzy and sick. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who feels this way.
I make time to have breakfast, even something easy and small can be substantial, it’s better than nothing

  12. I’d never leave the house without breakfast! Sometimes I go to bed feeling excited to wake up the next morning and eat. I personally love peanut butter oatmeal with banana slices on top.

  13. Ooh! I love grilled cheese. I sometimes have it for supper, too. It’s also great to change the flavour by changing the type of cheese you use.

  14. You’re definitely not the only one who feels that way. I wonder if students would be better able to pay attention in morning classes if their stomachs were not empty…food for thought?

  15. That’s great! Breakfast is exactly what it says, breaking the fast. Your body is fasting from the time you go to sleep til the time you wake up, so whatever time you wake up your body will need nourishment.

  16. Yes, eating the food you make yourself is awesome! Crepes with fruit is one of my favourite breakfasts.
Morning zombie-ism is a common ailment amongst teens so planning ahead would be a good solution.

  17. Sadly, we can probably all say we know someone who skips breakfast but it would be great if we could find some way to get everyone to eat breakfast.

  18. I eat almost anything at breakfast. I even eat pizza. Mostly I eat rice at Breakfast. For some reason, I don’t like cereal. I rather eat something else like a fruit smoothie.
