Food To Go!
Hey Everyone! The long weekend is fast approaching and with it comes thoughts of food and eating. I like to check out events in the city or go on a picnic with my family but whatever I decide to do, there must be some kind of food present. Preparing food that travels well and that you would want to eat could be an adventure. The key to taking great food on a picnic is a good ice box or cooler and being able to prepare your food on the spot. The more freshly made your meal the better for you. Noone wants to spend the long weekend with food poisoning. That said, let's talk about what we would prepare for a picnic.
Personally, I like light easy foods. For snacks, guacamole and veggie slices or tortilla chips are great. I would make the guacamole at the picnic site, just take the ingredients. Pita pockets for a main course are filling and easy to prepare. If you're barbrqueing, then you can make all your fillings right at the park and if you make it ahead of time be sure it's something you like to eat cold. Dessert can be simple cake and fruit salad as these would be transported well.
If you're planning to go on a trip this weekend what food would you be preparing or taking along? We'd like to know so we can get some ideas.

Homemade hummus to go with those veggie slices/tortilla chips are a must! Berries are a personal favourite, too.
Oooo…You have a great taste in food. I personally wouldn’t being anything with heavy flavors. Something easily portable and fresh would be best. Maybe tacos that I can prep on the spot, or homemade tortilla chips with fresh guacamole sounds great! Fresh fruit is also a must.
I agree with fresh fruit. Also some pasta salads or potato salad, these can be done ahead of time. Finger sandwiches. I love cucumber sandwiches.
I would definitely take some kind of sandwich! A personal favorite is chips especially for picnics!
When my family has a picnic, it is really a feast 😛 But we love making small sandwiches. We take all our ingredients and then just make it on the spot. It’s a good way to keep everyone busy and everyone makes there own sandwich the way they like it.
