It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s… A Superhero!

Christian-Bale-escolhido-como-melhor-BatmanSuperhero movies have been around forever. Comic books have been turned into feature films, tv series, feature animations as well as animated shorts. Some have been made over again, with new actors playing the lead, and some have only been made once and never attempted again. There is some serious history linked to superhero flicks… Did you know that one of the creators of Superman, Joe Shuster, is Canadian? Two of my favorite adaptations have been the Batman series with Christian Bale and Iron Man with Robert Downey Jr.
I found them to be highly entertaining with great storylines and excellent actors. Heath Ledger as the Joker was amazing!
What did you guys think of these movies? What are some of your favorite film adaptions and are there any comics book superheroes you would like to see up on the big screen?

  1. I really like Batman and Iron Man (my dad is a fan of Iron man) but my personal favorite is The Amazing Spider-Man!! I rather watch movies than read comics.

  2. I’m not really into reading the comics. As for the movies, I’ve never watched the first animated series, or any of them in fact! I only saw some of the newest superhero flicks played by actors.

  3. I just saw a preview screening of The Wolverine. It was okay. I don’t read comics, I just know X-Men from an encyclopedia on them that I’ve read cover to cover about three times over the years. Wolverine himself was cool, but there were too many villains. You didn’t know which to focus on, and there were too many times in the movie when you thought one of them died, but oh wait, nope, they’re back!

  4. I admit I watch them…batman, spider man, x-men, green lantern, iron man…I will be seeing Wolverine. They need to re-do the incredible hulk. I have some comics, my dad loves them.

  5. The Christopher Nolan series of Batman was amazing (although I do miss some of the original aspects that made the class Batman amazing as well). Iron Man was good too. i always liked superheroes, maybe I’ll write about them one day…

  6. Although I’m not really into comics, I must confess that I do like the Batman movies, have a soft spot for Spiderman, and want to see the new Wolverine movie. For anyone who wants to read about real-life superhereos I recommend The Tenth Circle, by Jodi Picoult. It’s a novel intertwined with a symbolic comic book parallel to eachother.

  7. The new Wolverine movie is one that I definitely want to watch. I liked the X-Men series, and used to watch the cartoons way back when… are they still around?

  8. The comics are infinitely better and allows for much more artistic freedom, especially since comic books fans are already a niche audience, creating something peculiar is much more well received, and it’s an unspoken rule that every IP needs as many spinoffs as possible.

  9. I loved the Hulk (not the one from the Avengers, but the one they switched in Mark Ruffalo for). I live, live for the XMen series (honestly Wolverine, Magneto, Professor X and Mystique are the best). I’ve been in love with Superman since forever and Iron Man (especially the first one) is really great as well! I kind of have a love/hate for Batman though He’s awesome but I seriously think that Gotham City has some real issues! It really attracts all the weirdos!

  10. You’re right, Affaan, there is much more artistic freedom when it comes to comic books. I’m always blown away by the immense talent that goes into creating them… just plain amazing!

  11. Have you guys heard that Ben Affleck will be playing the role of Batman in the sequel to the Man of Steel?
There was A LOT of buzz around this, and unfortunately for Ben, it wasn’t very positive.
What are your thoughts? I absolutely loved Christian Bale as Batman, but since he doesn’t want to reprise his role (he reportedly turned down the $50 million that he was being offered), I have no negativity towards anyone else that steps in his shoes. After all, he wasn’t the first Batman, and definitely won’t be the last.
