Have you ever been bullied or been a bully?  Have you felt the pain of being bullied?  Bullying, by definition, is a form of abuse that includes persistent and unwelcome bahaviour. There are different aspects of bullying, such as bullying at institutions or corporate levels, bullying online, and school yard bullying, etc. Bullying is a serious issue! It can lead to depression, suicide, and other horrible incidences. We must join hands to stop school violence and bullying directed to LGBTQ+ teens!

Bullying is not new, however, technology makes it easier, and teens who are cyberbullied feel helpless because the identity of the person sending the message is not always clear.  To learn more about this topic, go to: Bullying and Cyber Bullying.

  1. I’ve never been victimized by bullying nor have I been a bully, but since it’s become such a serious and big issue over the years (especially among LQGBT teens), my school actually has a unit in phys-ed oriented around creating good relationships, diversity, and how to spot and prevent bullying. I think that this is a good idea, it sheds a new light on the issue and in the long run be able to decrease the amount of bullying we’ll see in schools at least.
Realistically, bullying will probably never go away altogether, but this in-class teaching about it can make a huge difference

  2. I have been a victim of bullying when I was younger. It’s really good when there is a teacher who can help you. Kids help phone lines are good and so is the CYW’s in your school. Always good to have lots of support not only at home but at school too. This bullying stuff needs to end!

  3. The issue of bullying usually stems from ignorance, which, in turn, stems from one’s background, this can be anything from family, friends, or relatives, a person’s disposition can be heavily influenced by their families, for example a child whose paren’t are extremist nationalists may influence their child to adopt racist behaviour and philosophies, or a traditionalist may impose a sexist dogma on the child, which the child then, in turn, vocalizes in public, or a eligious extremist may mold their child to hold profound hatred of the LGBTQ community (although this is not exclusive to the religious)influencing the child to think that they are lower than others, affecting his disposition against that community. Paren’tal responsibility also needs to be an imperative.

  4. I was bullied in grade one, but I don’t remember much about it. My paren’ts claim I was very upset by it though. I just read a book (ninteen minutes, Jodi Picoult) about a teenager driven over the edge by bullying. I think it’s a very powerful read, and anyone who wants to truly understand the effects of bullying should read it.
