Teen Pick: Witch Fire
~Reviewed by Lithiya (Agincourt Branch YAG member)
Previously, before reading this book, Witch Fire by Laura Powell, I was not a big fan or books about witches. I tend to find them uninteresting. However, that wasn't the case for this book. Witch Fire had kept me at the edge of my seat. Unable to put it down for merely a second, I was hooked onto it from the very beginning to the end. Glory and Lucas's story had captivated me in a way that I was never captivated before. They are two extremely talented young witches who are kept out of the dark about their past. They're whole life begins to feel as a lie as the truth about their past and their family begin to unravel. Things take a turn when they are used as spies and are sent to a private boarding school in Switzerland, to learn about this brain implant experiment that works to block out the fae inside them. Yet, once they arrive and begin to uncover the secrets about the procedure and the private school itself they end up learning that things are never as they seem. Though working as spies has it's pros and cons when working with someone they know very well. It's up to Lucas to decide whether knowing the truth is worth the risk of losing a dear friend and Glory to decide how far she's willing to take it to discover the truth.
Overall, I'd give this book a 10 out of 10 for the incredible and captivating plot and the spark of undeniable romance between Glory and Lucas.

This does seem highly interesting!
The books sounds incredibly cliched, it also seems to combine some the narrative archetypes I found most repulsive, supernatural romance, teen drama, and spy stories. So far the book seems a bit pretentious, it has failed to give me a reason to keep on reading, the characters seems to be one-note archetypes, the themes are shy to compel and originality seems to be non-existant. But opinions do differ.
Doesn’t seem to me that they are interesting! I will pass on these.
