Dinner Anyone?

So you've got the clothes, the shoes, the bag, the supplies and you've got knowledge of healthy breakfasts and lunches but what about when you get home? Dinner is really important to the active teenage body. Many of you will have dinner prepared for you but that doesn't mean you can't have some input into what is prepared. Ultimately, it would be great if you could help prepare dinner, it's a good learning experience, as well as, a perfect opportunity to talk to your paren'ts and just share some time together.

With your help, preparing more than just one night's dinner would be a cinch. You could also help to prepare a little extra for the next day's lunch. If you have ideas for dinner, you could offer them up while you help. Your paren'ts might be a little more receptive to the idea if they don't have to do it alone. It's like cleaning your room with your best friend, the more the merrier.

Do you have after school activities? If your family is busy shuttling around to different events on weeknights, how and when do you do dinner? We'd like to know.

  1. Well I have piano lessons after school. I also joined different extra curricular activities like art club, office duty, announcements, track and field, girls club, cooking club, band, and more.

  2. My piano lessons are after school and also I have cooking club after school. Those are on different days. The rest of the activities I do is in school lunch time. I have begun to do some volunteering on the weekends too. There is not a specific time that I have dinner. But it is around 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

  3. I eat dinner in front of the TV, while my mom and dad eat in the kitchen. Sometimes though, we eat as a family. I usually don’t have time to make my own dinner unfortunately.

  4. I eat while on the computer or doing my homework. Usually, I never eat at the table. Plus I eat at different times as well. But I never have the time to make my own dinner.

  5. Honestly, I think eating as a family is probably one of the most important things you can do with your family. In my opinion, it is a sacred altar where ideas are discussed, decsions are made and laughter is shared. Things is life gets so busy when it comes to balancing extra school clubs (which I have four days a week until 5) and homework with cooking dinner

  6. In my family we still try to have dinner together every night. There are only 2 nights a week when we don’t cause my mom works late but we are always together. I think I like this tradition and will try to carry it on with my future family.

  7. yeah my family also tries/prefers to eat dinner together every night. Recently though i’ve taken up some evening classes that end at 7:30 so i get home by 8:00 and by that time everyone has already eaten.

  8. I am thankful that food is prepared to me. Being a busy teen leaves no time for making nutritious meals, I sometimes have to grab what’s easiest. But I think that now I should consider having dinner nights where I prepare a meal for my family.
