Teen Book Review – Unraveling Isabel
Unraveling Isobel by Eileen Cook is one of the most
refreshing novels I have had the pleasure in reading for a long long time.
Written in the first person, we are able to step into Isobel’s intriguing and
eventful life. Not only is it thrilling and suspenseful, super funny and has a
hint of romance (oh là là) but it is such a relatable topic. This novel has the
perfect amount of light humor for Isobel has the most down to earth, frank and
sarcastic way of dealing with situations that will surly make you laugh.
However, a magical and eerie turn of events occurs when her dead stepsister
visits and leaves clues towards her murderer. You will feel your heart beating
faster and faster as you flip each page, desperate to find out what happens
next. I honestly enjoyed with novel from the beginning to the end and finished
it in one sitting and here I am still wanting more. Cook does an amazing job in
capturing the reader’s attention with her heartwarming morals, crazy plot and
witty situations. I found it to be addictive and fast paced and although it is a
light read, this book also possesses an unnerving dark side that keeps you
guessing until the very end. I absolutely loved Cook’s writing style for I
thought it has a very connectible vibe and we as readers are able to sink into
this amazing piece of literature and find ourselves not in our room but with
Isobel as she discovers a shocking secret that lies closer than she thought. I
feel as if the book would please readers from any genre because although it is
situated in a realistic environment, there is a magical twist and a mystery to
be solved and not to mention the romance and humor this book provides. Overall
it was a great read and I recommend this to all!

Doesn’t strike my interest.
I love the library, one of the reasons I work here!
That is okay that it doesn’t interest you, as long as we have presented other books that strike your fancy!
So what is stopping you? Read it.
Sounds like it should be a good read. I like when romance, mystery, and humor are mixed together. It really evens out the novel.
